Others Slam Panorama Programme

The criticisms I make in the 'Careful With that Racist Tag' piece (see previous blog) have been echoed by a black basketball player living in Poland

We also should remind ourselves that there are commonly attempts by the media to whip up fear before major football tournaments. There were before the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, because of the extent of violent crime in that country, and there were also some serious misgivings about EURO 96, which was hosted by England, after far right hooligans rioted during a 'friendly match' in Dublin. The British media should be a lot more careful when casting aspersions on other countries' hooligan problems. Once again it has proven that much of journalism has pathetically lost its sense of history.

Once EURO 2012 is over we can look forward with confidence to more scare-mongering ahead of the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
